Dr E was transferred into the QinetiQ Pension Scheme. His former pension arrangement was contracted out of the then State Earnings Related Pension Scheme. As a consequence of being contracted out of SERPS, the Scheme was required to provide Dr E with a pension that was broadly equivalent to the SERPS pension being given up.
The case involved complaints made by Mr E against Teachers’ Pensions (TP) and Islington Borough Council (the Council), resulting from TP’s claim that his pension from the Teachers’ Pensions Scheme (the Scheme) had been overpaid, and its request for the return of the overpaid amounts.
Mr N made a referral of a reviewable matter to the PPF Ombudsman in relation to an entitlement to enhanced early retirement benefits.
Mr T was a member of the HSC Pension Scheme and his complaint was about the refusal of HSC to recognise his employment between 1984 and 1993 as eligible for mental health officer (MHO) status.
