Firemen’s Pension Scheme 1992 (CAS-84085-R9H4)
Rhondda Cynon Taff County Borough Council
Ombudsman’s Determination
Outcome
The complaint is not upheld because I find that Mr S did not wholly rely on the information he was given by the Council preceding the misinformation, and to the extent that he did, it was not reasonable for him to have done so.
Complaint summary
Mr S has complained about the Authority’s maladministration in failing to implement an amendment to the rules of The Firemen’s Pension Scheme Order (1992) (the 1992 Order). He asserts that the Authority’s maladministration resulted in him relying on incorrect information he received from the Council to decide to retire, and that he has suffered a financial loss as a result.
